- Abstract
- "Neuromyelitis optica (NMO) is an inflammatory, demyelinating disease of the central nervous system characterized by attacks of optic neuritis and myelitis and the presence of antiaquaporin-4 antibody(anti-AQP4).There is paucity of data on patterns of brain or cerebellar atrophy in NMO, althoughprevious studies revealed significant brain atrophy in multiple sclerosis. We report a patientwith anti-AQP4 positive NMO spectrum disorder, who presented with generalized limb ataxia andgait disturbance and showed progressive cerebellar atrophy in serial follow-up brain magnetic resonanceimagings.
